Being Blessed...

...Is when you know for sure
There is one person who has the cure :)

For when you're dumped, dejected, stranded nowhere :)
Sick, befuddled, self-piteous, righteously angry, don't-want-to-care

... Is knowing too, how unconditional, how limitless, and how warm
How safe, caring, precious, those hands are; your shelter in any storm.

...Is finding that mother's lap, tucking your head down, snuggling close
Saying farewell, to all those things that are determined to make you morose :)

Being Blessed is knowing your mother.
And knowing, like her, there is no other :) :)

Happy Birthday Mummy!
You are the still point in all our turning, churning lives!
May we always be blessed to have the shield of your love
And may we always remember, we are because YOU ARE :) :)

My Sun Child II

I dreamed you up,
Years before you ever showed up

And laughed at the way you turned so true
To the way I wished you would be... YOU!

Ticklish and tender, like this one
Any mom would be proud, to have this SON!

All the same, I'm special glad, you're mine
Before anyone else, for you, can pine!

This rhyme is pretty awful, it's a chryme
Still, couldn't let this day pass without a chime

For you, just you, on this beautiful day
That marks your sunny birthday!

I wish the cake I'd baked had risen tall
And stayed soft, like you :) ; instead it chose, to fall...

Still it matters naught a pin
'Coz my baking's not worth the din

I always make when I brag and boast!
So here's to you, a nice peppy toast...

May the blues be chased away, and may all things be sweet and pink :)
May all your dreams, each one, be tinged with the joy of a magic ink
That shall write itself, and draw out those pictures bright, and make you blink
In sheer surprise, amazement, wonder, awe just as if it were from Fairy Tink!

And so I end my chryme, dearest one, saying so...
I love you, but of course, that you already know :)
But never shall I tire, of saying this, all aglow :) :)

God Bless! May your ship always find safe harbour, and pleasant winds, and take you to lands of your dreams! Happy Birthday, Arjun!

Reasons and Seasons

Did I ever need reason?
Realization dawned.
Just yesterday.

When, all of a sudden
The masks fell, and
Dammed emotion
Broke its bounds.

In our million moments
Togetherness - taken for granted?
Acceptance - given, denied
Rationalized, ignored.

Do I know you?
Am I still that mystery
You claimed I was?

The hurricane of trauma
When it struck
Put us on that hurdy-gurdy
Of an endless roller-coaster ride.
Pain. How many kinds are there?
All I know is this:
Each day I find one more.

And yet.
A Blessing.
A Benediction.
Invisible, tightly bound
Strongly held,
We were pulled together-
Into the eye of the storm.

Limp, spent, exhausted
We just hold each other close.
No more words-
Only tears - each drop, gracious
Each, only ours - not yours, not mine.

It is the season of knowing
Of Thanksgiving
Of Completeness-
Finding one more piece of
Each other-
That fit, just so right.

That's reason enough.
For now.

A Safe Passage

For all those yesterdays
That you don't want me
To recall-

For all those memories
You want me to set free
From my stubborn hold-

For all the love, I thought, I had
In those yesterdays, with those memories...

You now offer me
A deal.

You promise me this:

That only in their redemption
and safe passage into the
Place they belong - the Past,
Will I find myself again;
And Love-
With you.

An offer I cannot refuse;
Stepping out of my past,
and into the circle of your love,

I am finally
Redeemed;

And captivated!

For Love - Tanka

With colour and light

fragrances and sweet passion-

This moment of Truth!

Crossing my threshold - stealthily,

Love, it cleaves into my Soul!

Tanka, like Haiku, is again a form of Japanese Lyric Poetry.

[As you know by now, :) ] A Haiku works with 17 syllables arranged in 3 lines of 5/7/5 syllables to each line, and evokes an aspect of nature and the seasons, with the last line holding the punch so to speak.

A few Tanka here and Haiku, here and here and here

Tanka on the other hand gives the writer more space to work with – 31 syllables, arranged in 5 lines of 5/7/5/7/7 syllables each. Tanka is an older form of the lyric in Japanese… dating to 13 centuries ago, while Haiku is just about 3 centuries ago..

Tanka was mainly written between lovers, as society had accepted the fact that a man’s dallying with another woman, other than his wife was normal!! After the man departed early in the morning, he would send a Tanka to his lady love with his message of love..

Rain on...

Drop by tingling drop.
Shine, sparkle, tickle and slather.
Rush down, to meet the yearning land
Merge, soak, overflow
As do those emotions, storming
Whirling, tumbling, and then
Soothing.

Rain on, deep in the heart too.
There is too much that is parched;
That is yearning.

So that the scent of fresh love
Might, once again, draw me in
To you.

Online, on a rainy line of thought :)
