Wedded - A Haiku in Celebration :)

Merging my soul in
Yours, I’m lost: only to find
Completeness in us.

Patches on the ceiling

(This is post is entirely inspired by Arjun, the First Born, my caregiver (along with my parents and Chandrika), who insisted I had to be inspired by my forced inactivity, or rather my debilitating condition (lol), to write something with this title. His wish had come to be assayed thus :P. Happily enough, it is being typed out on his laptop.  )

These many days, past,
Prone, unmoving, almost
Enveloped in a fine mist of pain
I never saw
The patches on the ceiling.

They smoothened in a blur
As I lay on my back
And looked, eyes
Distant with the discomfort
That grew to be a part of me.

I felt, almost proudly, I now wonder,
In retrospect, my whole self
Neatly accomodating to pain.
And how I never demurred, protested
At its intensity. Vain, I certainly am!

Yet now, forced out of this
painful, accomodating complacency,
I sometimes writhe, hurting,
Crossing new thresholds of recovery...
The blur fades, focus sharpens
And I see the ceiling for what it is.

So like me.
Uneven, faint scars of reworked plastering.
Stretches smoothened, especially around corners...

And the patches, Oh yes-
Each one, clear, takng shapes
That make me smile.

And one, that stands out, distinct.
An ode, a toast perhaps
To a certain denizen of the region.
Long, slim, tapered at one end
Softly triangulared at the other
The entire length, pockmarked
With tiny peeling whorls of pain(t)
A shape bubbled out, by the damp.

So like my familiar friend, who visits
Each dusk, as the lamp lights,
To haunt my twilight wall. Our gecko!

And now, you know, I'm glad
I see, and know, those patches on the wall!

My Sun Child II

I dreamed you up,
Years before you ever showed up

And laughed at the way you turned so true
To the way I wished you would be... YOU!

Ticklish and tender, like this one
Any mom would be proud, to have this SON!

All the same, I'm special glad, you're mine
Before anyone else, for you, can pine!

This rhyme is pretty awful, it's a chryme
Still, couldn't let this day pass without a chime

For you, just you, on this beautiful day
That marks your sunny birthday!

I wish the cake I'd baked had risen tall
And stayed soft, like you :) ; instead it chose, to fall...

Still it matters naught a pin
'Coz my baking's not worth the din

I always make when I brag and boast!
So here's to you, a nice peppy toast...

May the blues be chased away, and may all things be sweet and pink :)
May all your dreams, each one, be tinged with the joy of a magic ink
That shall write itself, and draw out those pictures bright, and make you blink
In sheer surprise, amazement, wonder, awe just as if it were from Fairy Tink!

And so I end my chryme, dearest one, saying so...
I love you, but of course, that you already know :)
But never shall I tire, of saying this, all aglow :) :)

God Bless! May your ship always find safe harbour, and pleasant winds, and take you to lands of your dreams! Happy Birthday, Arjun!

My Pride of Lions or, The Fantastic Foursome :)

He's right up there, with the best of the Kings
Just a hard-headed Ram, but like his lion brothers, he sings :)
Caring, relaxed, wordy, wise,
With, nerves, chilled with ice :)

Now this one's a Lion, I knew it from the first
Twinkling eyes, a smile and cheer, on the brink, to burst
To punch a line, wholesome, wondrous and witty :)
In a flash, no less, he gets right to the nitty gritty :)

The next, a pretty one, of the zodiac of twins, whom everyone heeds
Perhaps not a lion, but the Pride, she undoubtedly leads :)
Dainty, demure, incisive, and more so, the stronger
She, well, they certainly don't want to mess with her!

All the while, with them ahead, he bided his time
Quiet growls, that grew to roaring, his signature chime
His is the Heart, he wears on his Van Heusen sleeve,
His smile, the sweetest, his will, I have faith in, and believe!

My Fantastic Foursome, that's who they are
Nestlings mine, they've flown to lands distant, and far!
Each a delight, each so dear and sorely missed
God's grace and blessing, they're always wished!
