I see you in the corner-
sylph-like,
breathing an aura of
colour and fragrance
into a large, sparsely furnished room.
Your quiet acceptance and
Your fortitude radiates into me,
and tells me that
despite the chaos my mind
reflects in my
Relationships
Life must go on, and
there must be moments
such as this-
of self revelation
which give a richer
meaning to
Life!

This one too back in 83?:)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing!
So many words through just a flower? But not just a flower for you!You saw so much!A rose!:)
Beautiful!
What a beautiful moment that you captured!
a self revelation....and all the chaotic thoughts of a mind are at peace...
My favourite lines are these...
''Life must go on, and
there must be moments
such as this-
of self revelation
which give a richer
meaning to
Life! ''
PS:-The picture's beautiful!Your brother is a great photographer! classy !
and your work?not amateurish at all!:D
Good work!:)
*in awe of your mind back then and now*
*what a mind in 83!*
83??
ReplyDeleteYou leave me speechless :| I wasnt even born and you wee churning thought provoking beautiful lines since then?
A rose for an analogy? The thorns the tenderness to relationship! Damn!
Please. Please I need lessons. Tuition me up!
Very true ma'am! Those moments are so important aren't they, they make life life... Beautiful. 1983? God! Still 7 more years for me to enter this world! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd a trick with photography, never place your main subject in the center. You could find out about the Golden mean or the rule of one-thirds, if time and inclination permit. :)
This is so sweet. This is the first thing I reading on your blog. I liked it especially the pic. Well it isnt really amateurish! :)
ReplyDeleteanother favourite! it feels so very good to be readin all these again!! :)
ReplyDeleteamateurish?? usha ma'm and amateur don't go together. even in photoshop! :)
ReplyDeletema'm u take me on a time travel in ur blog. seriously awesome! :) loved it, esp. the opening verse!
Great picture and wonderful lines to go with it....I'm sure there will be a lot of good memories associated with it!
ReplyDeleteUsha, you have reminded me of a picture depicting a single rose that i had in my bunker in Ladakh and the words written on it were
ReplyDelete" A Single Rose is my Garden"
and you know what the year was ?? 1983, the year i got married.
Some times so much meaning is stuffed in so few words. And you have done the same.
this is pro !! really !!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful !
:)..8 years before my birth :)..hmm, reminded me of a "Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever"..you bring such lovely dimensions to everyday life ma'm :) :)
ReplyDeleteTa-da! :)..Found time again, this blogaddiction is sure hitting me too :P :)
life is a sum of such small special moments..but most of the times many of us just doesn't care to look back and admire such moments in our quest for a non existent salvation...
ReplyDelete83...2 yrs before the world witnessed one such beautiful moment;)
There is something in flowers that moves a poet - be it Blake or Wordsworth or Gibran or Kumaranasan or Usha :D
ReplyDeletethis poem drives me numb... call it narcissism or anything... but this actually led me to see the beauty within... I can proudly say this is an inspiration..... for me and many
ReplyDeleteTeacher,
ReplyDeleteGood :-) Little does the flower know that so much is being talked about it.
But, Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.
wrote Gertrude Stein years back. ;)
-Nikhil
My kind of thoughts here, Usha :)
ReplyDeletewishes,
devika
Gaia Herself would be proud of this... Beautiful lines. :)
ReplyDeletePeace.

Coming to think of roses, flowers, nature... If u have written anything on Nature, please let me know. Would love to read it and link it to my last post.
Your poem is always fun to read! I wish I can write as good .. this poem is as old as me :D give or take 6 months :P
ReplyDeleteProfound words... and all from a single rose in a vase!!
ReplyDeletea very nice concept! n loved the lines..
ReplyDeleteLife must go on, and
there must be moments
such as this-
of self revelation... so true! n blended on really well..
Meg :) Woah.. I am always breathles when it comes to reading and replying to your comments... and I love them so :) Thanks so much.. well, in '83, for one, I guess my grey cells were in greater abudndance... LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the compliments for the pic and the work on it.. *ahem ahem* [ I actually feel like a pro :D!!]
Prabhu :) I should be asking the same of you in return.. your prose is wonderful too, as with your poetry.. you dont need any tuitions.:) :)!!
Thanks for the lovely comment, as usual :)
Tara, thank you, now I feel practically ancient :D :D! But then no matter the chronology, I know I'll forever be young at heart, no older than 16 :) Which is why I empathize with adolescents so much :P!! Yes I have read about that rule you mention for photography somewhere:) Thanks for the advice, coming from you, I regard it as welcome.. :)
R.V., thank you :)
Sash.. thanks for reading it again, and for liking it all over again :) :) Feels nice too :)
Vinay, kind of you to say so Sir! Honoured! Thank you so much!
Rakesh, yes indeed, the memories are aplenty. In fact I can still visualize that single red rose [not the one in the pic.. that just suited the write :)], in a long slender vase :) Thanks for the good words :)
Balvinder, when I read your comment, as I published I was struck by how coincidences occur repeatedly, so very much, that it assures me I am in the right universe :) :) I like the way you saw that pic in your bunker too.. A Single Rose is my Garden! Awed at the way these coincidences occur really!! And the year you got married, to boot :)!!! I mean to your lovely wife :) :) :)
Dhiren, thank you thank you thank you :) :)
Aruna, welcome to the blogaddicts world.. :D! And thank you for that sweet note!
Praveen, you exemplify Whitney Huston's lovely song "The Greatest Love", which I just added to the post on Children on overdrive.. :) Indeed, '85 was a wonderful year... :)Personally too, as well as universally... I've told you no?
Thanks so much :)
Lol! Roopa, you say it right for all those, but Kumaranaasan, Blake and Wordsworth, yes.. :) Usha, well.. she rambles... :D! Thanks a zillion... :) In nth heaven, even if I know it to be otherwise :) :)
@Painting the Savanna, thank you so much.. your note leaves me a little dumb, actually, having rendered me speechless at your perspective :) Honoured and Humbled. Thanks!!!
Nikhil, *beaming proudly at the "good"*!!! Thank you :) Gertrude Stein did say it as it is.. and repeated it so many times, that even we know I guess.. :) And so did Shakespeare, "A Rose by any other name would still smell the same.." :) :)
Devika, thank you :)
Karthik, loved the poem on Gaia, though I caught it late :( I think there are a few here.. all with the nature label.. shall put up the labels on the sidebar I think, and when you find time and inclination, perhaps you could look :) Thank you for the lovely words and for asking for more [you do not know what you have got urself into :D!!!]
Shail :) Thank you!!
Matangi Mawley, thank you too :)
