Meeting Me

The sea calls out to me-
As I walk beside its waves;
Washing away imprints I leave-
Temporal, I know I am, yet still...?

In my arrogance, I wait
And as the tide ebbs-
I walk again, pressing close,
Digging in my heels, causing
Tiny wells and pools-

I gloat, and look in askance
At the sea.
It still calls, unperturbed.
All-knowing.
It calls, mesmerizing,
Melting away my dregs of self.

And I surrender.
As I knew I would.

The sea calls-
As I step in,
From the water's edge...

To meet the endless, limitless me.

  1. Good one!
"Ans as the tide ebbs-.." should be "And as..."

  3. hmmm - nice poetry -
The sea is truly hypnotic - and it's a great inspiration for poetry - reading your poem reminded me of my own musings on the beach...

Trinath, indeed a typo there, which, thanks to you, has now been edited and corrected!

  6. This is special for me for reasons more than one.
    1. You are posting after so many times (default case now)
    2. It refers to sea. And I AM madly in love of, in, about it anyway.
    3. I will like to share a quote of a person who have influenced me in many ways.

"The best thermometer to the progress of a nation is its treatment of its women."

    -Swami Vivekananda.

On the eve of Women's day perhaps there couldn't have been a better realization than this.

Esp coming from you, its always so.

    Treasure.

  9. I saw the picture, the calling waves and I was rapt. They seemed to fill me with their infinity, take me along with them to the far off place, where they originated from. But as I breathed out, I realised the reality. So ironic :)

The picture is a poem :) 1024 words a picture can say!

Regarding the poem :) Do I even need to say anything?

  13. The unknown beckons so inviting
but it is our ego that is limiting
or maybe what is known is comforting
and what we are unaware terrifying.

Usha simply wonderful. I was in Myanmar when I read this on my reader but couldn't comment as we can't access blogging sites there.
